For the music video, slowthai did a call out to his fans to be featured, resulting in over 4000 UK submissions last year. In the end, 35 were selected, and slowthai and his team headed to their homes up and down the country to shoot the video. Initially starting out as what appears to be a standard track reaction, the rapper sneaks into shot, surprising each of them with his appearance. “Feel Good” is an upbeat, punky number about lifting yourself up when you’re feeling down and features backup vocals from Shygirl. The track also features production from Kwes Darko alongside Sega Bodega, providing a pounding, bass-heavy backdrop. The rest of the album features production from punk production wizard Dan Carey as well as contributions from Fontaines D.C. and Jockstrap’s Taylor Skye. UGLY (an acronym for U Gotta Love Yourself) is being billed as an album of rediscovery for slowthai. “People see you as a character. They don’t actually know who you are. You’re stereotyped as the nutter who gets in his boxers,” he said in a press release. “It doesn’t matter what or who people think you are, you’ve just got to stay true and respect yourself.” slowthai is heading back out on tour this month, returning to the pub tour format that he last did back in 2019 for the release of his debut Nothing Great About Britain. Playing at pubs in towns and cities like Blackpool and Sunderland, tickets will be available for only £1, giving fans a chance to see an extremely intimate gig without having to sell your fave trainers to cover the cost.
