Listen: Björk drops new ‘Ovule’ remix with Shygirl and Sega Bodega

‘grrrrratitudes !!’

Did anyone ask for a Björk, Shygirl and Sega Bodega track? Almost definitely. Do we deserve it?? Probably not! Regardless of your feelings on the matter, the 57-year-old icon took to Instagram to announce the track last night, which has since been released on YouTube.

The remix in question – “Ovule” – was originally released as a single from the singer’s tenth album Fossora, released back in September of 2022, Björk’s first full length album in five years. “Atopos”, the opener from the album, has already been remixed by Icelandic musical trio sideproject, and, as announced back in November, Fossora has been nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammys to be held next month.

“It has been so nourishing sharing music with shy and sega,” the singer wrote on Instagram. “In this remix [I am] admiring sega exploring chill-bassdrum-gabba. And a thrill seeing shy diving into my lyrics and taking it to a new place…” While ‘gabba’ and ‘chill’ aren’t exactly two words that fit neatly together in the lexicon of music, the resulting track is ethereal and stirring, with Shygirl’s aqueous autotuned croons adding another layer of depth to Björk’s breathy vocals and Sega Bodega’s entrancing production. “I hope to repay the favour soon,” the singer added. “grrrrratitudes !!”
