Kanye West and Drake’s Larry Hoover benefit concert will be livestreamed

The musicians’ much-anticipated reunion at the Los Angeles Coliseum will be free to watch via Amazon

Kanye West (AKA Ye) and Drake finally put their differences aside last month, coming together with plans for a benefit concert to call for the release of convicted gang leader Larry Hoover. Now, it’s been announced that the Los Angeles Coliseum event will be free to watch worldwide via livestream.

Set to take place at 8pm PT on December 9 (or 4am on December 10 if you’re in the UK), the concert will be streamed live on Amazon Music, Prime Video, and the Amazon Music Twitch channel, broadcasting to over 240 countries.

Unlike Kanye West’s massive Donda listening parties in Atlanta and Chicago, the show will also be made available on-demand after it streams. And, if you want the full large-scale experience, it will stream in IMAX cinemas across the US.

Earlier this week, aerial footage of LA’s Coliseum emerged on social media, seemingly showing the construction of an ambitious stage for the Kanye and Drake reunion. Featuring Drake as a special guest, the event marks Ye’s first official headline show since he dropped out of his Life of Pablo tour in 2016.

Gangster Disciples co-founder Larry Hoover is currently serving six life sentences after being convicted of murder, conspiracy, and various other charges in 1997. Critics of his imprisonment claim that he is reformed, and point to the excessive nature of his sentencing.

West has previously featured Hoover’s son, Larry Hoover Jr, on the Donda track “Jesus Lord”. The musician also wore a “Free Hoover” shirt alongside his notorious MAGA hat during a 2018 appearance on SNL.

“It’s time to put it to rest,” West said of his back and forth with Drake in November, “with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover.”
