Grimes teases a new release using binary code

It’s called ‘Player Of Games’

Grimes has announced a new release, titled “Player Of Games”, which is set to drop this Friday (December 3).

In true Grimes fashion, the musician teased the release using a string of binary code, which, when translated, reads, “Player Of Games”. Grimes is yet to confirm whether the release is a single, album, or the debut solo track from her AI girl group, NPC.

Along with two tweets announcing the release – after the binary code, the artist said: “It’s real this time. Phew” – Grimes has set up a website, clairedelune.io, where fans can pre-save “Player Of Games” on Spotify and Apple Music.

Earlier this month (November 13), Grimes and NPC premiered their first song, “A Drug From God”, which is a collaboration with house DJ Chris Lake. The girl group were set to launch earlier, but Grimes said on Instagram: “We’re super behind on everything and you’ll see why in a month or so, so I apologise abt delays of music and visuals. Gna be catching up on the girls visual development and whatnot.”

“Player Of Games” will be Grimes’ first new release since she dropped the surprise track “Love” in September. The musician said the song was created as a reaction to the attention that followed her and Elon Musk’s separation. As well as airing her thoughts via music, Grimes trolled the obsessed paparazzi by walking around LA reading Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto. “I tried to think what I could do that would yield the most Onion-ish possible headline and it worked,” she said.
