Hayley Williams hints that there’s a new Paramore album in the works

The group’s sixth studio album would follow 2017’s After Laughter, plus several solo releases from the Paramore frontwoman

Having spent the last few years focusing on solo material — including her debut solo album, Petals for Armor, and its 2021 follow-up, FLOWERS for VASES / descansosHayley Williams has hinted that new music is on the way from Paramore.

Earlier this week (April 20), the musician posted a screengrab of a series of messages from the group’s drummer, Zac Farro. Throughout the conversation, the pair appear to reflect on the number of albums they’ve released to date, with Williams’ caption reading: “We! are! getting oooooold!”

The image also includes a message reading “paramore 6”, suggesting that a sixth studio album could be on the way.

The new record would be the first full-length release from the band since 2017’s acclaimed After Laughter. Williams previously teased the move away from solo material, and back to making music with the band, in a February Twitter post, responding to a fan asking if there are songs that didn’t make it onto FLOWERS for VASES that could still emerge in the future.

“There are more songs, yeah,” she writes. “But I’m not planning on another solo album. And I’m not sure if they’d be great for Paramore. I’m ready for the next Paramore album. Let’s go.”

In the meantime, revisit Dazed’s 2020 interview with Hayley Williams for more on how trauma, femininity, and therapy helped form her debut solo album.
