Lil Nas X drops a lo-fi ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ remix to study to

When you have homework due at 8 and a date with the devil at 9

We’ve all been there. You have a lot of work to do and you need some peace and quiet, so you throw some headphones on, head over to YouTube, and tune into one of a dozen streams offering “24/7 lo-fi hip hop beats”. Either that or you just want to chill out to the downtempo music, layered with crackly sounds of old vinyl, maybe hang out in the live chat.

Only now, instead of jazzy beats, you might be met with the catchy refrain of Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”.

On Friday (April 9), the rapper followed his latest hit with a remix that the lo-fi hip hop anime girl (AKA our social distancing role model) would be happy to do her homework to.

Appropriately titled “Montero (Call Me By Your Name) but it's lofi and something you can study to lol”, the track is the latest in a series of semi-remixes, which also includes an instrumental version and “Montero but ur in the bathroom of hell while lil nas is giving satan a lap dance in the other room”. In a nod to its lo-fi hip hop radio roots, the new version also comes with an anime artwork (take a look, and listen below).

Earlier this week, the rapper also released a video game titled Twerk Hero, inspired by the controversial music video for “Montero”, which allows players to take control of a Montero avatar and twerk their way down to the depths of hell.

In yet more devilish news, he recently partnered with MSCHF to release a “Satan Shoe” filled with human blood, though the product has since been recalled as part of a settlement with Nike.

Chill out to the lo-fi remix of “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” below.
