A new track by SOPHIE and producer Jlin, titled “JSLOIPHNIE”, has been released as part of a compilation by Unsound Festival.

The album, called Intermission, is dedicated to SOPHIE, who passed away in January after a sudden and tragic accident.

The release also features contributions from Nicolás Jaar, Ben Frost, and Tim Hecker, and comprises 15 tracks which respond to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Intermission is accompanied by a book of essays, poetry, and fiction, which the festival said aims to “create a unique interdisciplinary work joining different options, narratives, art forms, and genres”.

A number of celebrities paid tribute to SOPHIE following her death. Christine and the Queens said: “SOPHIE was a stellar producer, a visionary, a reference. She rebelled against the narrow, normative society by being an absolute triumph, both as an artist and as a woman. I can’t believe she is gone.”

Munroe Bergdorf stated: “Our community has lost an icon, a pioneer, and a visionary bright light. Heartbroken.”

After news of SOPHIE’s passing broke, fans started a petition which called on NASA to name a planet after the musician. “I want her name to be remembered and her influence to continue to flourish for many years to come,” the petition read.
