Namely: 2017’s “Bellyache”. This newly-unearthed fact is one of many currently being shared by the video’s directors in a cute BTS throwback on TikTok. Directing duo Miles and AJ are sharing a series of breakdowns of the track’s visuals, with more still to come. They explain that they got the brief for Eilish’s third single when she was an “up-and-coming artist” with just 12,000 Instagram followers. The pair have shared their pitch, which they say was based on Eilish’s idea, and are in the process of revealing a number of secrets from the video. The black ‘X’ on Eilish’s jumpsuit is simply Gaffer tape to hide its logo; the dancing was choreographed by Eilish who “didn’t really have a plan, she just went for it”; and the flower scene from the video was inspired by the 2014 film, Nightcrawler. At the time of writing, there’s two parts to the breakdown, though Miles and AJ have promised a part three, during which they’ll reveal an Easter Egg about the beginning of the “Bellyache” video. Last week (February 26), Eilish premiered her documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry, which charts the singer’s rapid rise to fame, and offers an in-depth look at the recording of her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? To mark the occasion, Eilish dropped a sustainable merch collection, and discussed the film on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. During the interview, the artist revealed that she’s recorded a new album during lockdown, which she says wouldn’t have happened “if it weren’t for COVID”.
