Luca Guadagnino directs the video for Sufjan Stevens’ ‘Tell Me You Love Me’

The Call Me By your Name collaborators have reunited for new The Ascension visuals

Sufjan Stevens has shared the new, Luca Guadagnino-directed video for “Tell Me You Love Me”, a track off the musician’s sprawling 2020 album The Ascension

The visuals see him reunite with the filmmaker, who previously tapped Stevens for the soundtrack of Call Me By Your Name. Stevens’ track “Mystery of Love” – which accompanies Timothée Chalamet’s Elio as he wanders the countryside somewhere in northern Italy – went on to earn an Oscar nomination (the film itself took home Best Adapted Screenplay).

The video for “Tell Me You Love Me” is also produced in collaboration with the photographer Alessio Bolzoni and artist Celia Hempton.

In a statement on the visuals, Guadagnino says: “The aching feeling of loving and wanting to be loved, the mystery of bodies that clash, the uncanny aspects of nature, the sublime music poetry and voice of Sufjan – all this went into this video that I am proud to have made with the collaboration of two more great artists, Alessio Bolzoni and Celia Hempton.”
