Lana Del Rey announces an album of ‘American standards and classics’

The singer has also provided an update on her much-delayed Chemtrails Over the Country Club

Lana Del Rey has announced that she has an album of “American standards and classics” on the way, saying in a recent Instagram Live video that it will arrive in time for Christmas. Unfortunately, the digital record will be making up for yet more delays to her upcoming album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club.

“Sixteen week delay on the vinyl process,” she explains in the live video. “Because I can’t get the record plants to open until March 5.”

Originally slated to release in September 2020, Chemtrails Over the Country Club was already pushed back once due to the coronavirus pandemic, to either December 10 or January 7.

In October, meanwhile, Del Rey released the first song from the upcoming record, “Let Me Love You Like A Woman”, having previously teased the video set for the title track.

As well as the announcement of the coming “American standards and classics” album, Del Rey recently shared an unexpected, moody cover of Liverpool FC anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, which will feature in a forthcoming documentary on the football club. It may not be Chemtrails Over the Country Club, but we’ll take what we can get right now.
