Rihanna says her new album is an outlet in this v overwhelming world

The singer has been working on the follow up to 2016 release ‘ANTI’

It’s the most anticipated album of the decade, and it looks like we might be getting a tiny, tiny bit closer to Rihanna’s ninth studio album.

In an interview with The Associated Press, the Bad Gal herself shed some light on the ongoing creative process. As well as revealing she’s held a series of songwriting camps to get the bangers started, she spoke about her emotional relationship with the album and music-making right now.

“What do I feel personally? What do I want to put out, and as an artist, how do I want to play it with my art? How do I want to interpret that?” she said.

Ultimately, it seems like R9 is going to be on her terms – although that may mean her fans have to wait a little longer: “You do pop, you did this genre, you do that, you do radio, but now it’s just like, what makes me happy? I just want to have fun with music. Everything is so heavy. The world that we live in is a lot. It’s overwhelming every single day. And with the music, I’m using that as my outlet.”

Whatever happens, she does have one promise: “I’m gonna get it done.”

In the meantime, we can get our Rihanna fix with her new Savage X Fenty show – which streams tonight on Amazon Prime. Watch a teaser below.
