On July 12, Megan Thee Stallion was shot in the feet during an altercation. Last month, the rapper claimed that Tory Lanez – who was arrested at the time on a gun charge – was responsible. Now, it’s emerged that Lanez texted Megan saying he was “too drunk” just hours after the alleged shooting.

In a text obtained by TMZ, Lanez appears to apologise for the incident. Although he never directly addresses the accusation that he’s the one who shot Megan, he says: “I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

Lanez adds: “I was just too drunk. Nonetheless, shit should never have happened and I can’t change what I did. I just feel horrible. Cuz I genuinely just got too drunk.”

Megan opened up about the shooting in an emotional Instagram Live in August, in which she described the experience as “super scary” and addressed “fake ass narratives” that emerged as the news broke. She said: “I was shot in both of my feet, and I had to get surgery to get the shit taken out, get the bullets taken out, and it was super scary.”

“I didn’t think I was gonna cry,” she continued. “It was just the worst experience of my life, and it’s not funny. It’s nothing to joke about and it’s nothing for y’all to go and be making fake stories about. I didn’t put my hands on nobody. I didn’t deserve to get shot.”

She concluded: “I just want y’all to know a bitch is alive and well and strong as fuck, and ready to get back to my regular programming with my own hot girl shit.”

Directly addressing Lanez in another Instagram Live, Megan said: “You shot me, and you got your publicit and your people going to these blogs lyin’ and shit. Stop lyin’. Why lie?” Lanez, Megan, and two others were in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills when an argument broke out. According to Megan, after she left the vehicle, Lanez shot at her while he was still inside the car.
