While this year’s Glastonbury has been cancelled in the UK (though it’s still apparently on track for 2021) and festivals such as Coachella and SXSW have suffered a similar fate in the US, the island of Guernsey has kicked coronavirus in time to hold its 44th annual Vale Earth Fair.
Taking place last weekend, the 12-hour event was one of the only European festivals not to be shut down or postponed this year due to the pandemic, largely because it only welcomed local attendees (3,500 of them) and showcased local performers.
Guernsey, along with the rest of the Channel Islands, ended its social distancing rules after it was declared free of COVID-19 back in June, with border restrictions in place.
The rest of us will just have to stick to reminiscing over old sets and watching virtual festival livestreams for the foreseeable future (just beware of the scammers charging people to view free events).
