Stevie Nicks: we must be ‘spiritual warriors’, wear a mask, stay inside

The musician and world’s favourite witch shared a personal journal entry that offered clearer messaging that most government officials

Musicians and celebrities have had some pretty questionable reactions to coronavirus and quarantine in the last few months – Madonna’s wild conspiracy theories, that “Imagine” video – but Stevie Nicks has spun in with some solid advice for these pressing times. Essentially, the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman and world’s favourite witch implores: wear a mask and stay the fuck inside.

Nicks posted a personal journal entry to Twitter and Instagram, dated July 17, which details current feelings, reflections on the pandemic, and the sane advice everyone should be following. The musician writes of lying awake with stomach pain, listening to Pandora. She is “just happy to be awake, immersed in music ~ feeling slightly euphoric and inspired to be alive and still be able to feel young and safe” in her home, additionally quoting CSNY’s “Our House”.

She writes about her hopes for everyone to stay safe and respect measures that combat the spread of coronavirus, so that we may all see each other again. While reflective in tone, it’s pretty clear messaging – more than can be said that what the US and UK governments have put out. “In order for us to get back to our former lives – we must all change into spiritual warriors,” Nicks writes. “If we don’t get ahead of this now, we will live with such guilt and regret that it will destroy us.”

Nicks adds: “I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on these high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing for me.”

The musician most recently shared a touching tribute to Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, who died last week age 73.

A recent study by researchers at the Reuters Institute, Oxford University found most engagement with coronavirus falsehoods and misinformation came via social media posts by politicians, celebrities, and influencers. Nicks’ sound guidance and comforting note is pretty welcome then – can she make it an audiobook?

Read Stevie Nicks’ journal entry in its entirety below – don’t disappoint our true supreme, and don’t stop thinking about tomorrow!

“It is 6:50am~ I am still awake listening to Pandora~ My stomach ache is gone, and I am just happy to be awake, immersed in music~ feeling slightly euphoric and inspired to be alive and still be able to feel young and safe here in – “My House, it’s a very, very, very fine house.” Right here in this moment, I feel hope. I feel happy. I feel safe. Tomorrow when I wake in the afternoon, the news will negate all this goodness until tomorrow night, late when I come back to this place where everything is possible.

If everyone could just wear a mask and stay in as much as possible~ you might be able to find this magical place I have found, in the early morning when everyone sleeps~

And when you wake up, make it your mission to do all that you can to stop the virus before someone you know falls really ill. Because then, you will be too late. Your life will be forever changed.

In order for us all to get back to our former lives – we must all change into spiritual warriors- we must make it our mission to fight this virus; otherwise there is nothing left~ If we don’t get ahead of this now – we will live with such guilt and regret that it will destroy us. You can’t go back. You can’t push rewind. I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on those high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing with me.

Please don’t throw this world away. Please don’t give up on humanity and let this virus win this war. It’s up to us now ~ because nobody is helping us. Nobody is coming to our rescue.

No one ~

I may have my freedom~

But I don’t have a lot of time…
