The adventurous underground artist recently performed a livestreamed DJ set with DazedCALVIN KLEIN
As part of #AloneTogether, Dazed’s creative community during the COVID-19 crisis, we have been inviting DJs, musicians, and other collaborators to host live lockdown listening sessions on our social media channels, with Benji B, Pxssy Palace, Virgil Abloh, Sherelle and LCY, and Erol Alkan having joined in already.
On May 7, New York City DJ and multidisciplinary artist Tygapaw played an #AloneTogether set over on Dazed’s Facebook. The set was sponsored by CALVIN KLEIN, who gave a donation to the Ali Forney Center, which helps homeless and at-risk LGBTQ+ youth.
Tygapaw previously told Dazed about her approach to livestream DJing in light of the coronavirus pandemic. “I’ve been doing a few livestream DJ sets in Zoom functions for Masisi and Club Quarantine and other queer parties,” she said. “It’s been a lot of fun engaging with people outside of the physical club space and experiencing a different take on what the club experience can be. It’s beautiful to witness how we are able to connect and engage with each other during a time when everything is uncertain and a lot of people might not have adequate emotional support. The livestream parties are a much needed virtual space for the queer community to come together in support of each other.”
Following the DJ set, Tygapaw put together a playlist for #AloneTogether, featuring tracks by Leonce, LSDXOXO, Nkisi, and more. Check out the full playlist via Spotify below.
