Courtney Love gives heartfelt tribute to Kurt Cobain on wedding anniversary

The Nirvana singer died by suicide nearly 26 years ago

Courtney Love has shared some intimate reflections and a photograph from her wedding to Kurt Cobain to commemorate what would be the couple’s 28th anniversary.

Posted on Instagram earlier today, the 1992 photograph shows the pair in Honolulu, Hawaii, with the caption: “28 years ago, we got married, in Honolulu, on Waikiki beach.”

The post continues with an emotional tribute to the late Nirvana singer, who died by suicide nearly 26 years ago.

Describing their wedding day, Love said: “I recall feeling deeply delighted, dizzy, so in love, and knowing how lucky I was. This man was an angel.”

She continued: “I thank him for looking out for me, many parts of the last 28 years have been tortuous chaotic and uphill, and in public? That is the darkest shit imaginable, it almost tapped my resilience, almost.”

The couple married a few months after they began dating in late 1991, and had their daughter Frances Bean Cobain six months after their wedding in August 1992.

Love ended the post saying: “Between Kurt’s strange amazing divinity, and the honour of a few true friends, the gift of desperation and sobriety. Of a Higher power and of love, and of empathy, I’m here now. It’ll be ok, fuck, I see him on the shore. Rocking in the free world. My husband.”
