Only in Los Angeles would you find an interactive pop-up that lets you step inside Britney Spears’ greatest hits, including “Oops!... I Did It Again”, “Toxic”, “I’m a Slave 4 U”, and more.
The Zone, a bright pink store located opposite The Grove shopping plaza, features ten interactive rooms inspired by the pop star’s iconic music videos and outfits. Headed by longtime Britney stans Jeff Delson and Shannon Ramirez, it has been endorsed by Spears herself, who loaned the space some of her most recognised costumes, such as the dress she wore when she was 11 years old on the 80s TV show Star Search and the sheer orange jumpsuit from music video “Till the World Ends”.
Inside, visitors can walk through a replica of the high-school classroom from Spears’ “Baby One More Time”, which follows on to a locker-lined hallway and a basketball gym, as per the music video.
Another room recreates the airplane from “Toxic”, which invites guests to walk down the aisle wearing a flight attendant hat and pushing a champagne cart. A “Circus”-themed room features a giant ball pit, while the space-themed room for “Oops!... I Did It Again” is made to look like a space station, and even stars its own astronaut (like the one who falls in love with Britney in the video).
A highlight is the “I’m a Slave 4 U” room, which kind of looks like the Rainforest cafe, where visitors can live their budget Britney fantasy by posing with a toy python. There’s also rooms inspired by “Stronger”, “Me Against the Music”, and “Blackout”.
