Billie Eilish confirms she’s recording a new album in 2020

She also opened up about her new documentary, coming later this year

Billie Eilish has confirmed that she’s recording a new album in 2020 – although don’t expect it to necessarily land this year.

Speaking ahead of iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO concert this weekend, the singer was asked if she had a new album coming. “This year, no,” she replied, as NME points out, “but I will be making it this year. But next few years? It’s coming. When it’s made. It’s not made yet.”

She also discussed the forthcoming documentary about her for Apple TV+. “I’ve seen no part of it,” she said. “I’m terrified. I’m freaked out. They’ve been filming since like July of 2018 … Who has that much footage of them that they’ve never seen? I’m terrified.”

The documentary will be directed by R.J. Cutler and produced in collaboration with Eilish’s label, Interscope Records.

Eilish’s last album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, came out last year, and was one of Dazed’s favourite albums of 2019. She was recently confirmed to sing the theme song for the next James Bond film, No Time to Die.
