Pull & Bear launch in London with Lizzy Jagger, Luke Worrall, Josh Beech and... dubstep.
TextTerence Teh
Pull & Bear celebrate their London Oxford Street launch (Wednesday 16th September) with a campaign that includes Dazed’s favourite faces Luke Worrall and Josh Beech, Miss Lizzy Jagger and an afterparty of bass off proportions. After the in-store party featuring the Filthy Dukes and Crystal Fighters, head to spanking new venue The Bath House in Liverpool Street, London, where voodoo theatrics and basslines are served first by an impressive line-up including Drums of Death, Joe Hot Chip, Cooly G, Patchwork Pirates and the up-and-coming talent of dubstep producer Brackles (aka Rob Kemp) an artist spearheading the new wave of bounce and synthetics as heard on his recent MSTRKRFT remix. Check the exclusive Brackles x Dazed mix below.
Dazed Digital: What are you listening to at the moment?
Brackles: I've been listening to Dorian Concept, When Planets Explode, and Mulatu Astake Mulatu Of Ethiopia.
DD: Let’s talk about Blunted Robots and upcoming releases?
Brackles: Blunted Robots is a label I run with Shortstuff, it's nothing too serious and we just plan to put out records we like. The next release is Martin Kemp with Afta the Night and Aztec. After that we're probably going to release some Brackles and Shortstuff collabs.
DD: What inspires you about London?
Brackles: Pirate radio, driving at night, Tottenham Hotspur, 24 hour shops.
DD: With labels like Wigflex and Berkane Sol - is there a Nottingham aesthetic in music making?
Brackles: Wigflex and Berkane Sol both have a strong identity and defined sound. It is synth driven and influenced by all kinds of electronic music, from electronica to 4x4 garage. By mainly releasing artists from Nottingham they have really defined the sound.
DD: How did you approach the MSTRKRFT mix? The John Legend collabo always seemed a strange hook up?
Brackles: The record label asked me about doing a remix after hearing a couple of my other remixes on MySpace. I was supposed to be doing a dubstep remix but that didn't really work out - the vocals didn't seem to fit with anything I was doing, so I ended up doing something quite different...
