Kanye West announces Jesus Is King premiere in LA

Tickets are free to the public on a first come, first served basis

Kanye West has announced he will premiere his new album, Jesus Is King, at a special screening in Los Angeles today (October 23). Tickets for the “Jesus Is King Album and Film Experience” will be released for free today at 10am PST with a maximum of four per person.

“Kanye will premiere both the album and the film on Wednesday, October 23rd at a special listening and screening at the Forum in Los Angeles,” the announcement says, adding: “Jesus Is King follows 2018’s Ye – Kanye’s eighth consecutive #1 album – which tied the record for most consecutive #1 albums in chart history.”

According to the event page, the premiere will be “a phone-free experience at the request of the artist. Use of cellphones, smart watches, smart accessories, cameras or recording devices will not be permitted in the performance space.” It adds: “Anyone seen using a cellphone during the performance will be escorted out of the venue”.

West has “previewed” the album several times already on the weekend of its original slated release date (September 27), but the record may have changed since then as he reportedly decided it wasn’t ready and opted for a delay.

Jesus Is King is now expected to drop this Friday (October 25), the same day as the accompanying IMAX film. Watch behind the scenes footage of the Jesus Is King IMAX film below:
