Rihanna says she’s already thinking about her next album

Cool, but maybe release R9 first though?

Rihanna has opened up, ever so slightly, about her long-anticipated ninth album.

In a new interview with Vogue, the musician discussed how R9 would be “reggae-inspired” as opposed to straight-up reggae, as has been previously reported. “I like to look at it as a reggae-inspired or reggae-infused album,” she told the magazine. “It’s not gonna be typical of what you know as reggae. But you’re going to feel the elements in all of the tracks.”

Most interestingly – or frustratingly for fans who really, really want her to release this record – she says she’s already thinking about her 10th album. She describes it as being in the “discovery stage” right now. “We always went into the music this time around saying that we were going to do two different pieces of art,” she said. “One was gonna be inspired by the music that I grew up listening to. And one was gonna be the evolution of where I’m going next with music.”

Elsewhere in the article, she discusses a collaboration with Lil Nas X that’s in its early stages, and may not actually be music. She also discusses Fenty, and life in America under Donald Trump: “The most mentally ill human being in America right now seems to be the president.”
