FKA twigs needs stunt artists for a mysterious martial arts project

The singer tweeted the cryptic request weeks before the arrival of her upcoming album, MAGDALENE

In anticipation of her highly-anticipated second album, FKA twigs has hinted at an upcoming martial arts-themed project through a cryptic post on Twitter.

The singer tweeted that she’s looking for four POC men trained in wushu, a form of contemporary Chinese martial arts, and stunt artistry “for a very exciting project starting now”. Suitable applicants have been urged to send in a head shot, along with a video displaying their martial arts skills for the mysterious London-based project. The announcement comes six weeks after the artist posted a video of herself practising the martial art on Instagram.

twigs’ forthcoming album MAGDALENE drops on October 25, though two tracks, “Cellophane” and “holy terrain”, have already been released. Both singles are accompanied by performance-heavy music videos, which show off the singer’s impressive moves. Considering she spent a year learning to pole dance for her Andrew Thomas Huang-directed video for “Cellophane”, who’s to say martial arts won’t feature as part of her latest venture.

MAGDALENE, co-produced by twigs and Nicolas Jaar, is the singer’s second album, and follows her return to music five years after the release of her debut record, LP1.

If you’re up for doing some martial arts with twigs (who isn’t TBH?), find out how to apply to her mysterious casting call below.
