Having released a teaser for The Vince Staples Show earlier on in the week, the rapper has also dropped the track that features in the season opener. The Vince Staples Show shares a similar tone to Donald Glover’s Atlanta, with Staples drawing from everyday mundanity in order to create a stylistically satisfying watch. The first episode sees the 26-year-old go to get a haircut, bumping into the over-enthusiastic barber that we’ve all had to deal with at one time or another. Though only four minutes long, the entertaining vignette also manages to fit in Staples getting into a melee akin to an unrealistic action movie. Staples is known for his dry wit and tell-it-like-it-is attitude, and the first episode of his show is as absurd and hilarious as expected. It should also come as no surprise that Staples is a hit in front of the camera having got a glimpse of his acting prowess in the music video for Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”.
