MusicNewsListen to Blood Orange’s latest mixtape Angel’s PulseArca, Tinashe, Kelsey Lu, and BROCKHAMPTON’s Joba feature on Dev Hyne’s Negro Swan ‘epilogue’ShareLink copied ✔️July 12, 2019MusicNewsTextAnna Cafolla Blood Orange, AKA Dev Hynes, has released his informal follow-up to last year’s celebrated Negro Swan, a new mixtape titled Angel’s Pulse. Deliberately described by the artist as a ‘mixtape’ and not an album, Hynes has performed, produced, and mixed the entire collection of songs solo. The collection from the British, New York-based musician is 14 tracks long, and features contributions from Arca, Kelsey Lu, BROCKHAMPTON’s Joba, Tinashe, Justine Skye, Toro Y Moi, Ian Isiah, and more. Calling the record an “epilogue” to what he did previously with Negro Swan, released almost exactly a year ago, Hynes added in a statement: “I put as much work and care into it as I do with the albums I’ve released, but for some reason trained myself into not releasing things the rate at which I make them. I’m older now though, and life is unpredictable and terrifying.” Earlier this week, Hynes played a new track he wrote the previous month at an intimate party in the newly-opened Standard hotel, London, with help from album collaborator Ian Isiah, and debuted “Baby Florence” from the mixtape on his special NTS takeover.
