Called ‘Receipts’, the track is the artist’s first new music since last year’s debut studio album ‘soil’, which featured in Dazed’s list of the best records of 2018. The track, which is described by serpentwithfeet as carrying “a lot of weight”, is “a snapshot of two brothers rhapsodising about unforeseen romance”. “I began writing ‘Receipts’ when I first moved to Los Angeles last summer. I was and still am mystified by the city – the mountains, the men, the hummingbirds. I played an early demo for Ty Dolla $ign and he asked to join me on the track,” he said in a statement. “Ty is a huge part of my L.A. story so ‘Receipts’ feels like a perfect document.” The Baltimore-born musician has had a busy year of collaborations. Last month, he performed track ‘blissing me’ as a surprise duet with Björk at her Cornucopia set in New York. i thank @tydollasign for being one of the kindest people ive ever met. i moved to LA one year ago & he’s made me feel so welcome here. he has truly become a big brother to me & “Receipts” is a certificate of this fraternity. pic.twitter.com/pfHaOKeC21— serpentwithfeet (@serpentwithfeet) June 26, 2019Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MORECorridos tumbados: A guide to Mexico’s most controversial music genreSekou is the 21-year-old baritone making 70s soul cool againDon’t Be Dumb: The top 5 features on A$AP Rocky’s new album The rise of ‘Britainicana’: How Westside Cowboy are reshaping UK indieR!R!Riot is Taiwan’s pluggnb princessWhen did UK underground rap get so Christian?
