The Gang Signs and Prayer rapper will take to the Pyramid Stage according to posters pasted in the windows of the charity shop. They read: “Stormzy Friday! First Glastonbury headliner revealed,” under the Glastonbury Free Press logo. Obviously overjoyed at the news, the 25-year-old posted the same poster on Instagram with an accompanying caption that read: “GLASTONBURY 2019, well lets be fucking having ya then” Last year marked a huge step forward for UK grime when Boy Better Know headlined the Worthy Farm event’s Other Stage. It is still unknown who will follow him over the course of the festival but rumours have varied from The Cure and Paul McCartney to Bruce Springsteen. Although he’s only had one album, Stormzy has recently taken on the world of publishing and education with his Penguin imprint and scholarship programs. Alongside his business ventures, his impassioned performance at the BRITs bringing attention to Grenfell provoked a response from the government, making him one of the most spoken about UK artists for the last year.
