The video shows Hynes and Rocky singing to camera whilst their pastel coloured, silk durags flow in the air. Elsewhere in the video, we see images of dreamy, magic-hour skies cut with the pair driving in endless circles, evoking a woozy atmosphere that perfectly matches with the recurring chorus (“Tell me what you want from me”). In a recent feature interview with us, Hynes explained that the song is “about how intense everything is right now. It’s kind of the only song on the album that pretty directly addresses being tired.” “Chewing Gum” is from Hynes’ critically acclaimed new album, Negro Swan, which also features the singles “Charcoal Baby” and “Saint”.
