In the end, West actually did take them up on their offer, taking full creative control of the ceremony alongside regular collaborator Willo Perron, according to Vanity Fair. The ceremony was set in the year 6918, costumes were provided by YEEZY, while the award statuettes (we can only describe the aesthetic as ‘future dildo’), were designed by the rapper himself. pic.twitter.com/EVrp4czHJP— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) September 7, 2018 “Kanye has designed a bespoke erotica-inspired award statue for each of tonight’s unique categories,” Pornhub said in a press release. “In line with the futurist theme, the award statues represent imagined alien sex toys.” Photographer Richard Kern also worked on the interstitials, while Teyana Taylor performed at the ceremony. The rapper also debuted a new song, “I Love It”, featuring Lil Pump, with a music video directed by none other than Spike Jonze. No, actually I’m mad about this now. These names & likenesses are trademarked. Why the fuck does @kanyewest think that profiting off of these women’s names and creating unflattering images of them is cool in any way. He came to our party & is now making money laughing at us.🙄 https://t.co/zdpfor8glv— Siouxsie Q 🇺🇸#LetUsSurvive #SexWorkersVote (@SiouxsieQMedia) September 7, 2018Great question 🤔— Lena Paul (@lenaisapeach) September 7, 2018 After the awards, West released a collection of Yeezy Pornhub merch, a range of sweatshirts featuring stylised images of adult actors Mia Malkova, Riley Reid, Lena Paul, Abella Danger, and Kendra Sunderland alongside the category title that they won (‘Nicest tits’, ‘Hottest female ass’, etc). They’re available via Yeezy Supply now. Still, like anything to do with Kanye, the collaboration wasn’t without controversy. When Lena Paul, one of the performers depicted on the sweatshirts, was asked on Twitter what sort of compensation she was receiving from sales of the merch, she responded: “Great question.” Check out footage from the ceremony below.
