Thom Yorke has teased new music on Instagram

Could it have something to do with his score for the new Suspiria remake?

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has taken to his new Instagram account to share an also-new snippet of music. The solo piano piece is accompanied by a short animation of a dancer in grainy blue and pink.

Predictably, it being Thom Yorke, the unveiling is all very abstract and cryptic, with no title or suggestion of a larger project the music will be a part of. In fact, the post doesn’t have a caption at all. Nor does his account have a bio or even a profile picture (though it has amassed 25k followers since the teaser post was made).

The ghostly vibe of the piano tune and the accompanying dancer have led people to suspect it might be something to do with Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming remake of the 1977 horror film Suspiria, which Yorke has scored.

In an interview with BBC 6 Music, the singer/composer described the composition process as “absolutely terrifying,” saying: “Normally [scoring] a horror movie involves orchestras, these specific things… But Luca, the director, and Walter, the editor, are very much, like, find your own path with it… I just have to find a way into it.” You can watch a trailer, with Yorke's music, below.
