Janet Mock opens the stunning new Blood Orange video

This album is going to be incredible

Dev Hynes has made a second serious statement of intent in a matter of hours. After dropping the Crack Stevens-directed “Charcoal Baby” this morning, another Blood Orange video called “Jewelry” has appeared, this time featuring Pose creator Janet Mock, and directed by Hynes himself.

The video opens with Mock boldly striding down a city street, overlaid with a monologue from the activist, writer and director. The visual then cuts to Hynes surrounded by euphoric, shirtless men and a spoken word, subtitled segment, interspersed with soaring Surf’s Up era Beach Boys-esque vocals and chord shifts.

This album – titled Negro Swan – looks set to really be something special.
