Holland, the Dazed 100 winner and K-pop’s first openly gay idol, has just released a new single, “I'm Not Afraid”. You can watch the video on YouTube below.
The new song is part of Holland's ”Twin Single Vol. 1”, announced last week as a “Surprise Present” to his fans. It is his first original release since over 30,000 Dazed readers voted for him as the most important person shaping the future of youth culture.
The video for “I'm Not Afraid” sees the loved-up Holland throwing a house party for his friends and LGBTQ+ peers. The video has already received an R rating from YouTube, despite its resolutely safe-for-work content, something that the bewildered K-pop star says on Twitter he is currently trying to find the cause of. Holland has previously faced censorship on YouTube for his content.
In a recent video interview with Dazed, premiered on Instagram’s IGTV, Holland discussed what it was like growing up in a country where his sexuality is taboo, and where there were no LGBTQ+ models in pop culture before he emerged as an openly gay K-pop star.
