The latest addition to A-Trak, Catchdubs and Dust La Rock’s Fools Gold label is 26-year-old Brooklynite Ezra Rubin aka Kingdom, New York City’s secret club weapon. The DJ, producer, promoter and animator peddles a trademark debauched style, an east coast take on London’s bassline and funky, with added grit, hype and neon psychedelia. His low-end remixes of Telepathe and Mujava are certified blog monsters, and soon comes his Fools Gold debut, Mindreader.

My worst vice is that too often I'm trying to be virtuous.

...the best piece of advice you've heard?
Slow and steady wins the race.

...better, analog or digital?
DIGITAL. Anything else is a little dishonest I think. Everything ends up as bytes anyways so I say work with bytes to start out. Analog has its place and should still be integrated, but I think analog fetishisation is really ignorant.

...your favourite piece of clothing?
I wish I could Photoshop on my outfit each day.

...the world coming to?
The future is here and it's not a good or bad thing its just more extreme. The good things will get better and the bad things worse.

...the name of your hero?
Aaliyah.

...so special about your hero?
She was talented, open-minded, beautiful and made important music.

...your worst fashion secret?
I spent all the money I made in high school working at a pizza shop on W<.

My first official release. A club banger called Mindreader featuring a vocal by Shyvonne, coming soon on Fools Gold records and Acephale records.

How would you describe your work?
My music is dark and bright at the same time, and I draw from a lot of different genres. Inspired by playing my tracks in dark clubs with good sound systems and fog machines.
