P-Orridge was recently forced to cancel a European tour with PTV3. The crowdfunding page was set up by Douglas Rushkoff, a close friend of P-Orridge and musical collaborator. The campaign details that P-Orridge is “flat broke, three months behind on rent, and undergoing chemo and constant testing”. It adds: “Gen is on oxygen, and unable to do much beyond getting to the hospital. Friends are visiting and contributing what we can, but the expenses keep growing”. In a Facebook post, P-Orridge’s personal page said “we grew up being taught to be stoic and never admit we needed help nor ask for it... but we have hit a brick wall. We really DO need any and all help we can get”.P-Orridge plans to undergo “experimental chemo” treatment, and the GoFundMe goal has been upped from $10,000 to $30,000 in order to “rent things like a portable oxygen condenser so they can go outside, get herbs and nutrients that aren't covered under Medicaid, and to know everything is covered through this spring”. Money will also go towards rent and food. “We want Gen to be warm and fed through the winter, and focused on hopefuly healing, not finances... Gen does not have to die from this, but could be back performing again sometime next year. Having only been online for 24 hours, the crowdfunder is currently at just under $24,000 of its goal – if you wish to contribute, go here. Escape the algorithm!
