The funds raised from the show at Fonda theatre will go towards Native Children’s Survival, Seeding Sovereignty Project, Oceti Sakowin Camp fund and Give Love, who promote ecological sanitation. It was early this week that news came from the US Amy Corps of Engineers, denying the permit for Energy Transfer Paterners’ Dakota access pipeline. The pipeline, which was being constructed near the Standing Rock reservation, was a major threat to water access, local environment and the land’s sacred status among Native Americans. Thousands of protesters have gathered onsite since August to challenge the pipeline’s construction, with Shailene Woodley, Vic Mensa, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith standing alongside others from across the country with the Sioux tribe. “The levels of deprivation, unconscionably low life expectancy, infant mortality, and the adolescent suicide rate all point to the continued need for us to stand in support of First Nations people,” TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone, one of the concert’s organisers, told Rolling Stone. “We need to keep the light shining on this. We won this battle but the war does go on.” There’s potential for the decision to be appealed, and Trump’s administration have come out in favour of the pipeline – Standing Rock needs people to continue to stand with them. Tickets go on sale for the show on Friday December 9. We are very proud to be playing this show in LA with so many amazing artists. #werockwithstandingrockpic.twitter.com/pkbSsURcuz— TV On The Radio (@TVonTheRadio) December 6, 2016Expand your creative community and connect with 15,000 creatives from around the world.READ MORE‘The unknown is exciting’: Why Gorillaz’ upcoming album is all about deathThe 20 best tracks of 2025, rankedVCARBMeet the young creatives VCARB is getting into F1The 20 best albums of 2025, rankedThe renaissance of Zara Larsson: ‘I’m out of the Khia Asylum’The 10 best music videos of 2025, rankedListen to our shadowy Dazed Winter 2025 playlist7 of Chase Infiniti’s favourite K-pop tracksMeet The Deep, K-pop’s antihero ‘This is our Nirvana!’: Are Geese Gen Z’s first great rock band?10 of Yung Lean’s best collabs‘We’re like brother and sister’: Yung Lean and Charli xcx in conversation
