While she discussed the trappings, trials and tribulations of adolescence, she also gave some details about her upcoming sophomore album. The follow-up to the former Dazed cover star’s debut album Pure Heroine was written in the midst of “a colossal year”, dealing with discovering “in a profound, scary, blood-aching way who I was when I was alone”, being away from home and having her heart broken. According to the singer, the record is very near completion. “Writing Pure Heroine was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next," she wrote on Facebook. The singer told fans she wanted desperately to show them the cover art, hear her lyrics (“the best I’ve written in my life”) and experience the live show. “I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be,” she added. “You’ll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon.” Read Lorde’s post in its entirety below. Escape the algorithm!
