Hillary Clinton’s campaign was boosted in Cleveland, Ohio by the presence of the duo, who backed her unequivocally in front of thousands and also performed. Speaking about Donald Trump, Jay Z said “that’s not an evolved soul to me, so he cannot be my president. He cannot be our president.” Beyoncé spoke passionately about the opportunity to make history again – eight years ago Obama became the first black president, this American election could see the first female president. “I’m with her” she said. Clinton praised Jay Z “for addressing in his music some of our biggest challenges in the country – poverty, racism, the urgent need for criminal justice reform,” and described Beyonce as an inspiration. She also quoted Jay Z’s track “My President Is Black”. “'Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk, and Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run, and Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly,’” she said.
