The project, which was announced on Instagram yesterday, is the singer’s first full release since 2014’s Aquarius. It contains a mix of new material and previously released tracks, including “Company”, “Ride Of Your Life” and “Party Favours”. According to the singer, NIGHTR1DE should be seen as the “first part” of her long-awaited second LP Joyride – though the latter still has no official release date. “I have been working on (NIGHTR1DE) quietly for two years, alongside Joyride,” Tinashe explained in a handwritten note. “This is the beginning of the journey, one piece of the puzzle that makes me who I am both as an artist and as a human. Being human is about embracing the many different sides of you rather than trying to limit, label or box yourself in... NIGHTR1DE is an expression of that duality.” The singer also shared a Stephen Garnett-directed short film to accompany the project. Running at six minutes, it blends personal footage from her childhood, as well as some other darker, more disturbing visuals. Watch it below.
