In the film, they play two gangsters – both versions of themselves – who have their own ‘secret lair’. Now, as Spin report, Ninja is claiming that some “dumb fucks ‘forgot’ to credit” the duo for their work designing the lair. “DIE ANTWOORD’s secret lair in CHAPPIE hand-painted by Ninja and ¥o-landi,” Ninja wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of him on-set, “dumb fucks ‘forgot’ to credit us... said art direction was by some fat fuck who smiled in our face when neill was around then flipped 2 retard gremlin face when neill was gone... was a few fat fat fucks like dat on set...” Nina ends the caption by saying that “we gon make our own movie soon wid no brakes on... here cumz fun” (sic). The comment refers to Die Antwoord’s upcoming feature film South African Ninja, previously described as “a South African gangster film that has African ninjas in it” that they’ve been developing since before forming as a band. This isn’t the first time that Die Antwoord have said that films have claimed credit for lifting their style: earlier this year, Yo-landi Visser accused director David Ayer of jacking their aesthetic for his superhero car crash Suicide Squad.
