Back in February, the Venezuelan producer revealed that he’d be releasing his new album Reverie later in 2016 – his third full-length in as many years. In a tweet yesterday, he said that the album was still set for release in 2016, but that he’d also be issuing a free release as a thank you to fans for waiting. Today he shared that release, a mixtape called Entrañas. The mixtape features collaborations with Total Freedom, Massacooraman, and Mica Levi. He also released a video for its song “Sin Rumbo”, a stunning piece of music with a quasi-devotional feel. The song features Arca’s own vocals and lyrics, and its video – directed by regular collaborator Jesse Kanda – shows an extreme closeup of Arca’s bruised face, shot in a single take. Besides working on his new album, Arca has also been working with Björk once again on her next record, a follow-up to last year’s Vulnicura. Speaking to Julia Davis in AnOther, Björk said that “the last album, we sort of call it ‘hell’ – it was like divorce! So we are doing paradise now. Utopia.” Check out the video for “Sin Rumbo” above, and listen to Entrañas below. Revisit our longread with Arca and Shayne Oliver.
