Speaking to host Alex Jones, Corgan uses his airtime to single-handedly “demolish social justice warrior brainwashing”. Corgan – seemingly wearing about four different jackets – criticises the “this hashtag generation” on the show, saying that “the only thing that’s going to adjust their ideological fixation is reality”. He goes on to compare the social justice movement variously to a cult, Maoists, and, finally, the KKK: “If you could go back to Selma, 1932, and the Klan member spitting in some person of colour’s face, don’t you think that guy thought he was right too? OK. So how is this any different?” While there are legitimate criticisms to be made of the mob mentality that can easily proliferate online, Corgan doesn’t come off particularly well in the interview. But does anyone come off well appearing alongside Jones, a blowhard libertarian who generally uses his time to aggressively voice his support for the anti-vaccine movement, gun ownership rights, and 9/11 truther conspiracies? Still, it seems to keep the famously curmudgeonly Corgan happy – this is not his first time on the show. Watch a clip of the episode below, or see the full thing here. Escape the algorithm!
