Music / NewsSony is reportedly dropping Dr Luke over Kesha allegationsThe company may finally be ending the producers contract following intense public pressureShareLink copied ✔️March 9, 2016MusicNewsTextDominique Sisley Sony Music is reportedly terminating Dr. Luke’s contract, following intense public pressure over Kesha’s rape allegations. According to TheWrap, “knowledgeable individuals” have confirmed that the label has chosen to drop the producer a year before his contract expiration. “There is no contest,” the source allegedly told the site. “Kesha has no case in regards to her contract but they can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive. The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building.” Kesha initially accused Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) of sexual assault back in 2014, and has been trying to escape her contractual obligations with him ever since. Unfortunately, after a lengthy legal battle, she was denied her preliminary injunction by a New York judge last month – leaving her stuck with Sony, and forced to continue working with the producer. Although this new twist may seem like good news, it’s been a bit of a long time coming: which could imply that Sony just weren’t aware of how pissed off the public would be, and are doing this for the wrong reasons. We’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out. We’ve reached out to Sony for comment. Escape the algorithm!
