They'll throw you a slumber partyShareLink copied ✔️January 20, 2015MusicNewsTextThomas GortonTLC in Polaroids TLC want to release a new record, but they're going to need a little help. Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas and Tionna "T-Boz" Watkins have turned to Kickstarter for their fifth – and final, apparently – album. They're adamant that "they have to involve the fans". They're aiming to raise $150,000 and have received $54,213 in just a day, leaving them a month to make up the remaining two-thirds of the target. If you're keen to contribute financially to the production of the record, chipping in $5 will afford you the opportunity to vote on which track you'd like to see remixed, as well as behind-the-scenes updates on how the album is coming along. At the other end of the scale, $5,000 will get you an invitation to a TLC slumber party, complete with #TLCPillowTalk and "no Mom and Dad". The third member of TLC, Lisa "Lefteye" Lopes, died in a car crash in 2002. She was only 30 years old. But according to Chilli, Lefteye probably won't be making any cameos, courtesy of old archival recordings? She added to Billboard: "I'm not going to say 'no' because we're open to it. But at the end of the day, everyone knows how much we love our sister. You go to our show, you feel her presence." Anyone expecting a radical shift in creative direction may be disappointed – TLC are adamant that the album's sound will conform to the tried and tested formula of yesteryear. "Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere," the band wrote on their Kickstarter page. "We write music that people relate to...timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant. You'll always have a guy hanging out the passenger side!" How much money would you pay for a TLC slumber party? No creeps allowed, obviously. Liked this?
