To celebrate his new album 10 Summers, King of the Beats DJ Mustard is taking over Dazed: with a long-read with the man himself, a megamix from New York DJ Tanner, and a Pop Quiz with Ty Dolla $ign, its a total Mustard Marathon.
A master of the mixtape with 15 years experience behind the decks, Tanner is an ultra-sensitive, scarily accurate barometer for what’s happening on dance floors across the USA right now. A forward-thinking fixture on the Manhattan and Brooklyn nightlife scene, it’s his mixtape game that’s got us listening up and feeding our ears. To celebrate Dazed X DJ Mustard day, Tanner made us an exclusive megamix playlist dedicated to the producer’s distinctive sound – a sound which has infiltrated big hitter, big noise tracks from YG, Tyga and Tinashe. So before you head out to pick up Mustard’s new album 10 Summers, get to know the undisputed champion of the beats with this exclusive mix. "Mustard has been running the game for a minute," says Tanner. "While a lot of the production has similar elements the scope of the artists is really broad (east coast, west coast, R&B...) Repping the mixtape and street side was important to me on this mix – as well as switching it up with some blends on the more popular songs to keep it interesting."
