The independent record emporium is all about creating a platform for emerging artists in the US, competing with the big dogs of Brooklyn ever since opening up its small store directly opposite Tower Records back in '95. Joining forces with Fat Possum back in 2012, the store now finally has its own label – putting out everything from post-punk to psychedelia, local bands to foreign imports, and always one step ahead of the game. Here, they choose a selection of their current favourite tracks, from soul pioneer Lee Fields to jazz experimentalist Matana Roberts, as well as 2014 breakouts Mutual Benefit and White Fence. Tracklist: Laraaji – “Immersion” (Flow of the Universe) Jessica Pratt – “Night Faces” (Jessica Pratt) Mutual Benefit – “Auburn Epitaphs” (The Cowboy’s Prayer EP, out on Sep 2 on Other Music Recording Co.)
