There’s a lot riding on R&B innovator Sasha Keable, who guested on Disclosure’s Settle and is currently working with Justin Parker and Dev Hynes on her own debut album, but the Wandsworth girl’s not phased. “The best thing about being 19 is not having much responsibility,” grins the caramel-voiced teen, who signed a five-album deal with Polydor last year. “I mean, it’s not like having a mortgage!” Her excellent debut EP, Black Book, shows that she’s as at home riding glacial, modern dance beats as the strut of new jack swing – but while ’93 heros like Wu-Tang and Souls of Mischief are formative influences, there’s much to excite her about London’s current scene too. “It’s so hard not to go out nowadays – there’s always some rave going down close to home!”
