The musician works in a home studio, writing and producing romantic, uplifting sounds. Following his singles ‘All Eyes On You’ and ‘The Old House is Gone’, he is about to release his debut mini-album on HeavyRoc Records. The six tracks are a waterfall of empowering synth pop that cascade out your speakers in a colourful whirl of steel drums and airy, atmospheric vocals. Having lived in South Africa, the UK and New York, his music reflects his multi-national background. Tribal rhythms and echoing chants that transport you into a landscape of sun-baked sand and orange skies are fused with infectious melodies that have a distinctly 80s undertone. The result is rose tinted electro-pop, St Lucia’s mini album twinkles with harmonious verses and dance inducing bass lines that’ll light up the winter. Of course the worst one I can only tell you in private. …the story behind your name?I am awful at coming up with names, so I decided to do that thing where you close your eyes and put a pen somewhere on a map. Probably the 5th one that came up was St. Lucia in South Africa, which is also kind of a seaside resort town. The name seemed to fit the imagery of the music, and reminded me of some of my childhood vacations there. And so after test driving it for a while, it put its' roots down into the project. I still haven't decided how to pronounce it yet.... your favourite sound? The Ocean...your worst fashion secret? The haircut with which I arrived in Liverpool to study in 2002. Think Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray around that time ...your favourite website? The clear winner for joy and distraction is Youtube. Anyone who chooses anything else is lying....the best thing about where you're from? The weather...at the top of your shit list?People believing that the world today is worse than at x point in history. People forget that times of crisis are times of rebirth, and also that the news only lists an infinitesimally small percentage of the news that actually takes place in the world on a daily basis. A lot of the news that isn't told is good news....are you listening to now?Right Now: An old demo a Norwegian friend sent me that I did with him back when we both lived in Liverpool.
