Lucie McKenna is a textiles artist who embroidered the Dazed logo onto a pair of Levi jeans. “As a textiles and embroidery specialist I wanted to create a modern, wearable logo that was representative of my studio’s offering,” she tells Dazed, explaining how she created the design. “To achieve this I designed a chain stitch Dazed logo, and hand embroidered it across the butt of a pair of vintage Levis, using deadstock cotton yarn, and reclaimed freshwater pearls, giving them a new life as a fun, bespoke garment.” “The design and placement expresses a playful juxtaposition of 00s and present day fashion, the hand embroidery technique lends a sense of craftsmanship and authenticity, subverting traditional notions of branding and placement,” she continues. “Overall, this interpretation conveys a blend of craft, nostalgia, and contemporary style, an important cross section for my studio, Ludio.” Michaela Stark is an artist and fashion designer. “This is my playful take on the Dazed logo,” she says, referring to her design. “The image is taken on my iPhone, and is of my girlfriend Raga Muñecas in our bed wearing underwear from our new brand Panty. I drew the Dazed logo on her ass with Chanel lipstick, and kissed all around it then bound her with fishing wire.” “I am not sure if others will agree with me, but I personally find it to be quite a sexy picture, which is not an adjective I would usually use to describe my work,” she continues. “It’s a very flirtatious approach to the Dazed logo.” Now, we’re giving the wider Dazed community a chance to get creative too. We’re asking you to share your reimagining of our logo, whether that’s as a photograph, painting, moving image, piece of embroidery, or whatever else your imagination dreams up. Post your own version of the logo as a project in the app for a chance to be featured in an upcoming editorial on Dazed Digital, in our social media feeds, and in our next advert in the pages of Dazed and Confused magazine. And don’t worry – you’ll be paid if we choose your image too. Download the Dazed Club app and join the community today! Escape the algorithm!
