Tuner marked a left turn for director Daniel Roher  - best known for his documentaries, which include the Oscar-winning Navalny – when it premiered in 2025. The filmmaker’s first fictional narrative feature is a crime thriller about a gifted young piano tuner (played by Leo Woodall), whose heightened sense of hearing is exploited by criminals to help them open safes. His life is turned upside down as he’s pulled into the New York underworld, threatening his relationship with composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu).

Tuner also features performances from Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman (as the tuner’s mentor), alongside Tony Award-winner Tovah Feldshuh, Lior Raz, and Jean Reno.

Ahead of the film’s UK release, Dazed and Black Bear held a celebratory screening at not just one, but two cinemas – Peckhamplex and Genesis Cinema – in south and east London respectively. Held on May 14, the event brought together film lovers from across the city, eager to watch it before it hit wider UK cinemas on May 29. Take a look at photos from the screenings above.
