Watch The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in new trailer for HBO’s The Idol

The new drama from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson stars Blackpink’s Jennie, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, and more

The latest trailer for HBO’s The Idol has arrived, starring Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp.

Set in “the gutters of Hollywood”, as the clip points out, the show follows an up-and-coming pop star (Depp) as she becomes romantically involved with a self-help guru and cult leader (Tesfaye).

While the trailer doesn’t give much away, it opens with Tesfaye answering the phone, saying, “Hello, angel”, followed by scenes of a scantily clad Depp strutting into a record label, dancing, and being greeted by fans.

The series is co-directed by Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson and The Weeknd. It also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Blackpink’s Jennie, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennot, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, Anne Heche and Hank Azaria.

HBO has yet to announce a release date for the series but the trailer teases that it’ll be “coming soon”.
