The critically acclaimed drama – which stars Ashley Walters, Kano and Michael Ward – tracks the highs and lows of life on a London Fields estate. The show has garnered praise for its unflinching portrayal of poverty in the city, and its careful study of the reasons why people are forced to turn to a life of crime. Although it premiered on Channel 4 over a decade ago, the series was discontinued in 2013 after two seasons, only to be revived four years later by Netflix (with the help of Drake and Skepta). This is officially the second season of its latest iteration, though there have been four in total. The new season promises to expand on the original gunslinging, drug-heavy drama of the first, while also taking a broader look at the women and family members who have to build their lives in the resulting wreckage. New cast members include grime star NoLay, as well as Adwoa Aboah in her acting debut. The new season of Top Boy will be released on Netflix on March 18. Watch the trailer above Escape the algorithm!
